FABRICATION STUDIO
Michiko Sakano is a master glassblower and lighting designer with over two decades of experience, known for her technical precision and artistic sensitivity. She has collaborated with a wide range of artists and designers, including Lindsey Adelman Studio, Jorge Pardo, Katja Loher, David Weeks Studio, Roll & Hill, Yuko Nishikawa, Joseph Montgomery, Robert Gober, and Kiki Smith. Her fabrication work spans intricate lighting, sculpture, and functional design—combining hot glass techniques, coldworking, mold-making, and design consultation with a deep conceptual understanding.
In 2000, Sakano co-founded One Sixty Glass, a full-service glass design and fabrication studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Today, she runs Michiko Sakano Studio, where she continues to collaborate with clients worldwide. Her work is deeply informed by traditional Japanese aesthetics and driven by a desire to push the expressive limits of glass as a material.
She has also taught at leading institutions, including the Cleveland Institute of Art, MIT, NYU, Ohio State University, Tyler School of Art, University of Wisconsin, UrbanGlass, Pilchuck Glass School, and Penland School of Craft.
Sakano’s approach bridges technical mastery with creative exploration, making her a sought-after fabricator and collaborator in the contemporary design and glass art worlds.

LINDSEY ADELMAN STUDIO
Founded in 2006, Lindsey Adelman Studio’s signature aesthetic was born with the release of their very first product: the Branching Bubble chandelier, a virtually limitless custom configuration that combines the idiosyncratic natural grace of blown glass with rational, machined components. Since then, the studio has explored the visual tension between organic and industrial forms in a number of disciplines, introducing boundary-challenging designs from an innovative palette of materials.

CUSTOM LIGHTING
With over two decades of experience as a glass artist and fabricator, I specialize in designing and producing custom lighting for restaurants, bars, and private residences. My approach combines technical precision with an eye for organic form, resulting in pieces that are both functional and sculptural. If you're interested in a site-specific or custom design, I’d be happy to discuss your project.
